Welcome to CHEO’s Blog for Parents in the Ottawa Community!
Being a parent is a tremendously rewarding experience but also one filled with challenges. And with the amount of information out there, it can be a challenge to differentiate between good advice and the stuff that’s not worth your while.
This blog will share health info that has been vetted by our specialists, the ones you can trust. Here, some of our very own CHEO physicians and experts – who are also parents – will share their experience and their expertise.
Life with kids can be hectic but it is also loads of fun, so this blog will also celebrate what it means to be a parent! Over the next few weeks, you will have the opportunity to meet some of our contributing bloggers. Some are moms, other are dads, and they all have a lot to say about parenting and raising healthy, happy kids. Some are already pretty well known on the blogosphere, and some are joining it for the first time.
Some of the topics discussed will include injury prevention, healthy living, and other practical topics such as toilet training advice, finding that elusive work-life balance, helping your child deal with anxiety, how best to prepare veggies so your kids actually eat them, etc. Who knows what will pop up next!
This is also YOUR space to discuss what you care about and read what other parents are going through. Hopefully over time, the discussion forums will connect you with other local parents on topics you both care about.
Check out this exciting list of contributing bloggers on the Meet the Bloggers page.
Please visit us often! You never know… you might just find the best little nugget of information that will make a world of difference to your family. And if there is something you’d like our experts to talk about, let us know!
Now tell us, how was “back-to-school” for you this year? What are tricks do you have up your sleeve to help your child start the school year with excitement in their eyes instead of butterflies in their tummies?
Isabelle fancies herself a wordsmith and works at CHEO as a Communications Specialist. She’s 'maman' to a cool 7 year old boy and a hamster. In between helping out at kiddo's hockey practices, the school's book club and beavers meetings she likes to renovate houses, belt out tunes in the car, and help kids get their nature and literacy fix.
